The TRU After School Enrichment Program every Monday-Friday offers outcome-driven programming from 2-6  on Monday through Friday at the BGCSECT Thames River Unit located in the New London Housing Authority’s Thames River Apartments at 40 Crystal Avenue in New London for children and teens in grades 1-12.

You Make a Big Difference when you serve as a mentor in our newest program: STEM Mentoring Program in partnership with the Sea Research Foundation at Mystic Aquarium … and you get to play with LEGOs, run the bases while playing Cal Ripkin, Jr.’s Quickball Math and experience endangered African Penguins at the Mystic Aquarium.

  • Volunteer as a homework-helpers to provide academic support and enrichment to our members during POWER HOUR which is a daily one hour session within our typically 3 hour after-school program.
  • Volunteer your talents – be it a hobby or your job, BGCSECT members are eager to learn and love new experiences. Regular volunteers might be interested in starting a “club within the Club” focused on their particular passion.
  • Volunteer your resources ~ think about something at your home or business you could share with the children to enhance their enrichment experience.
