Who We Are

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

The Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut offers that and more! Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids!

Boys & Girls Club of America Movement

As a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, BGCSECT is part of a nationwide affiliation of more than 4,000 Clubs.

Boys & Girls Clubs achieves great things by making a positive impact in communities around the world. Recognizing the challenges young people face, the BGCA five-year strategic plan focuses on three key outcomes for our youth: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.

BGCA’s theme BE GREAT emphasizes youth advocacy and demonstrates how Clubs help kids be their best.

BGCA’s efficient use of financial resources has won national recognition. In its 2015 Philanthropy 400 report, The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked BGCA as #18 among all non-profit organizations and #1 among youth organizations for the 22nd  consecutive year. The survey measured private support and reported gifts to both the national organization and local Boys & Girls Clubs.

Forbes, SmartMoney, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report have all ranked BGCA among the top charitable organizations in America based on cost-effective use of donor dollars. WORTH magazine has ranked BGCA as one of America’s top one hundred charities, based on financial efficiency, strength of reputation, and program effectiveness.
